I realize it's a long and difficult process, i will do everything to get the support of social democrat parties across the EU.

The Opal dossier is being currently examined and there were some additional questions raised by the Commission, whether we are ready to take a decision or not depends on the completeness of the answers.

If the commercial decision is taken that they still want to go ahead, then it should be done within the legal framework of the EU, we are looking at how the EU law can be respected in all its aspects.

It would imply that we are going to build excessive capacity ... and which would make it economically very difficult to operate the Ukrainian transit route.

As regards security of supply, Nord Stream-2 could lead to decreasing gas transportation corridors.

Due to prolonged negotiations Ukraine has faced some delays in filling their gas storages but they have improved energy efficiency and have several options for diversification of supplies, i believe they will get through the winter without any major problems.

The European Commission considers the agreement valid, it is being enforced. No further steps are needed as all parties (that took part in negotiations) consider the 'winter package' as valid, it came into force the day Ukraine's Naftogas started paying for gas and Russia's Gazprom started shipping.

When we speak about some big supplies for European customers, you cannot adopt such a decision without talking to them, without talking to the EU and without talking to the European Commission.

It's a completely different reality today, we have to make it very, very clear it will be for the benefit of EU member states (to share information).

It's the biggest energy project since the Coal and Steel Community, it's a very deep energy transition.

We are now waiting for the Ukrainian side to order gas, the Ukrainian side is now discussing how much gas it needs before the end of the winter period, and by the end of December Ukraine will pay off the second half of this debt.

So far, everything is in order, we are in close and, I would even say, everyday contact with both Ukraine and the Russian Federation, and I hope that we will have no problem with gas this winter.
