We have regarded them as 'our' smallholders, and since the beginning we have always collected the crop - there are no middlemen in Papua New Guinea - and trust has built up.

Historically there has been a 'them and us' situation in Indonesia and Malaysia, but I think that is changing now, and companies like Unilever are beginning to understand some of the problems.
